Wonder if that is a fixed inductor spool? Holding 100m of 12# test I am not sure what else would make it special. What I liked most about this post is in the later part of the 2nd video he picks up a Heartland 651 MMHRB-RR 17, which is the first time I have seen one in action, and by chance I have on order.

they're skipping a bunch in those videos and i dont see how it could be better than SV spools

Man, you are prompting me to order even more stuff with pics like thatAquaftm45 wrote:Cracker wrote:SLP is releasing a new spool in 2019 with Magforce Z

Hard to say is it fixed or not, I would imagine when SLP website will be updated, SLP will mention that.

Same here, they are skipping so well as it is the SV spool.SSS wrote:they're skipping a bunch in those videos and i dont see how it could be better than SV spools

Re: 2019 SLP RCS 1012 G1 spool with magforceZ
Well, it's obviously not a fixed inductor if they're calling it Magforce Z, right?
This is the way.

You are correct. From what I understand now the simple breakdown is as follows:poisonokie wrote:Well, it's obviously not a fixed inductor if they're calling it Magforce Z, right?
Magforce: Fixed inductor, inductor is wider and sits in magnetic field, controlled only by adjustment of brake.
Magforce Z: Inductor is narrower and sits slightly out of magnetic field at rest (throw mechanism/spring might also be different) This would be conducive to pitching and to some extent skipping.
SV Spool-wider inductor than Magforce Z that sits slightly in magnetic field at rest (depending on brake setting), (throw mechanism/spring could also be different) Conducive to alot of things with emphesis on control. Shallow spool/light spool contributes to lighter lure range, but because of other attributes will handle mid-heavy baits as well. Ingenious line drawn into spool and variable line capacity lableling to facilitate casting lighter baits.
Very unscientific evaluation...
Karil's recently had a modified SV G1 1012 spool for sale. All he did was shim back the inductor so it sat further away from the magnetic field at rest. He trumpeted this spool as having better pitching capabilities than the standard SV spool, while maintaintng it's other attributes. I imagine this would also allow for easier spool start up. Not sure if he put his IXA micro bearings in it, which would also contribut to throwing lighter baits.
Anyhoo. Now I am just not sure why this 1012 spool is rated for 12/100, the others I have seen rated for 12/80? This is basically a shallower version of the stock spool that comes in the Steez A.
Regardless, less line means less spool wieght, less spool wieght means easier startup.

Re: 2019 SLP RCS 1012 G1 spool with magforceZ
I think the way the SV inductor works is a change in spool speed causes it to ride the ramps out into the magnetic field instead of relying on centrifugal force alone. So at the beginning of the cast it easily extends into the magnets, then it slightly retracts as the spool speed remains more or less constant, and the fully extends again at the end of the cast, either on touch down or when stopped manually. That's why you can cast thumblessly and why they're great for skipping.
This is the way.

The rod he's using in 2nd vid is a black label, not heartland RR. They look similar though, i think all the newer lower end heartlands are rebadged black labels. They even share the same reel seat.

Good eye! I was wondering where the blue was on the rod shaft. That guy needs to learn how to hold a baitcaster on hookset, looked pretty pathetic..
