18' Steez Type-2 or 16' Vanquish C2500xxx
I can't decide between these two reels, help me please. I have a Daiwa 7'6 AGS spinning rod on it's way to me that would be mating to this reel. I been a fan of Shimano's spinning for a awhile but never gave Daiwa's upper end spinning reel a try. Both reels are very close in price ~$20 diff. between them, almost the same in spec and I know that the tech is at different spectrum.
Some background info. I have a few Sustain and Stradic CI4 now and happy with them beside their drag, but that's an easy fix Will be use for tube rod fishing the Great Lakes.

Wish I knew more to help you, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the upper Shimano spinners, especially if you are already familiar with them. I thought the Steez Type-1 & 2 reels looked awesome, not sure anything about them though. Have seen a few youtube videos covering them, there is one channel who even has them and talks about the Stella (and other high end spinning reels) in a multitude of videos. "Fish Foot" is the channel, tons of videos with the Steez Type-2 reel.

Thanks, I saw his videos. Think I will be going with the Vanquish.

I tried a Daiwa Luvias 2500 after using Shimano for a while. The Luvias is IMHO heads and shoulders above my Stradic ci4 and Exsence ci4. I’ll admit I was a little surprised on how good it is. I was looking at the Steez, But thought I’d try the mid-line Luvias since it was easier to get. I’ll probably look for a Steez in the off season.
I’m sure the Vanquish is a great reel that you’ll enjoy.

Are there any differences between the 17 and 18 models with the Steez lineup? I lost my handle on my old Steez spinning reel and considering the cost it might be worth it to just get a new reel.

Digitaka, They have the size I want C3000.
I really don't know the answer to this. All the info I have were in from Japan lure shop on the 17', JPS don't show that any of the 18's.. The only I notice was that the 18' were not Hi-Speed comparing it on Digitaka's site.SPAZ wrote:Are there any differences between the 17 and 18 models with the Steez lineup? as far as i know the 17 models were the high speed gear ratios, 6.x:1 while the 18 models were the normal speed models. 4.8:1. i have a 18 type 2, and its awesome, super light, very smooth great drag. i dont have the current model of the vanquish, i have a c2000hgs in the original and it, too, is an awesome reel.SPAZ wrote:Are there any differences between the 17 and 18 models with the Steez lineup? though for the price of either i would wait til TW has the black friday sale and snag a 15 exist for around the same price.

Not having seen or handled a 17' or 18' Steez in person but do own two 15' Exists, so this is all conjecture, they sure look alot like rebadged 15' Exists reels.

For a 7'6" I'd suggest you also consider reel weight from a balance point of view. Most finesse techniques are tip up so I've become a bit of a balance freak. I've got a Vanquish 2500S which is still very light but just balances an Evergreen Spin Serpent 6'4" on the fore grip. The C2000 is a 1000 body, not ideal for bass use IMO as your rig may end up being tip heavy. A light 2500 may still be a bit light

Bingo. A lot of guys seem to overlook the balance aspect. A long rod will need a heavier reel to balance it out. I have a new 2018 MB XX Enforcer spinning rod coming in that is 7'4" and I'm putting a 16 Daiwa Certate 2510 PE-H on it. BTW, awesome reel. So awesome that I bought 2.
