Luxxe Rods

Post by Aquaftm45 » Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:47 pm

I guess since my (2) Luxxe rods are probobly floating around somewhere in Typhoon Jongdari, (tracking hasn't moved in 5 days), it's a good time to get some insight into what might someday be a reality. This is in reference to the "newer" Efreet and to a lesser extent the Oltre and my rocky road to deciding on them.
The path that led me to these two rods was a winding one. I set out to finally buy a Megabass reel, I ended up buying two the same day. This is the first time since I started my "enthusiast" level collection that I had reels in place, but no rod pre-planned for the reel. Buying a MB rod to pair with both reels was a given (or so I thought), what kind of sacralidge would it be pair these with anything other. (all of my other rods are MB). I am one of those goofballs that has to have an my rod and reel match. After ending up with an IS Red Galaxy, and an IS UC and swapping the handles.. putting the cork (red letters) on the Red Galaxy and the Black Aluminum nob handle on the UC, I was getting somewhere. I also deciced to put a MB honeycomb into the UC, now I was cooking. The IS UC, is now a stealth black setup, suited for power finesse. (must find black themed M rod with EVA grips) The IS Red Galaxy will keep the deeper spool and handle MH duties. (must find understated MH rod with red highlights and cork handle (matching the knobs..lol))
Ok. So far after re-reading this I am taken aback at how twisted my mind has become since I joined TT.
Anyway, to shorten this story and get on the the LUXXE's. I searched 3 solid days for suitable MB rods, many many many websites. Oh and another silly litmus I set upon myself, they could not be in a series I already had (TS, US Destroyer, Hyuga, Shoreluck, and (sorry)Levante(sorry). After 3 days, I had given up. I couldn't find what I was looking for in a MB rod (somewhat to the lack of availability). I had to do the sacralidge, I had to look elsewhere..
Almost pulled the trigger on JDM Steez, considered Heartland, came really close on a pair of Evergreens- RS, Tournament or Black Series came close to fitting all of the requirement. Then I came across Luxxe, a rod the 99.9% of people who own a Gamakatsu hook has never even heard a wisper about.
6'7 Medium Oltre-a stealthy black and silver theme, eva handles, a nano TI tip which has caused wispers of it being the GOAT for sensitivity
7' MH Efreet-Cork handled, red highlighted rod that utilizes Torayca®" T 1100 G and is supposedly built 100% in house at sub $500
Could I get past the two silly names written on the side... (Efreet/Oltre)... seriously just write it in Japanese so at least the ill-chosen name looks cool. After a full day of thinking about it, I decided I would have to get over the silly names on the side.
So 3 questions I have...
1. Does anyone else have a problem like this? Should I go see someone?
2. Has anyone handled the Efreet and if so, what are your thoughts?
3. If for some reason these did float away with Jongdari and I am open to options again, can you suggest a pair Megabass Rods that would fit the bill?

I have no experience with those rods, but have always had an interest when someone posts about them. Always read good things about oltre and they look incredible. Some nice pics are on the forum. Don’t recall much of anything on the other series you mention. I will look forward to your review and any pics you might post. As far as your question, I’d throw out a suggestion for some old school MB for those reels. Perhaps an xfti for the RG and an X7 or even Piii that fits your needs for the UC.

Proshop K tracked the package and it had been transfered from EMS to Fed Ex, so I recieved a new tracking number. Set to arrive 8/8! Must be on a ship somewhere in the Pacific passing Guam right now, ordered the rods on 7-18. I will sharpen up my photographic and TT pic upload skills in the next week.

How tracking goes from arriving on 8/8, to arriving on 8/1 I will never know, but I am beside myself right now.
Bunch of pics to come once I figure out the best format to use.

Wow. Knew what to expect with the oltre. Super nice. But excited to read about those efreet rods. Was not at all initiated. Looks killer. Sound fantastic based on little I read. Nice work and glad you brought these to my attention. Now time to put those to work and give update—please =D>
