I’m also very interested in how it feels in action. Anyone actually using it for UL trout fishing?

Just recieved mine today. Some quick notes:
-Spool weighs 9.15g holds about 50yds of 4lb mono. Still has the same heavy bearing on the spool as the other air reels so weight is a bit deceiving.
-Fixed induductor!

Retrieve feels the same as the alphas air and alphas sv reels as its the same gears and drag. Mine didnt have much lube on the gears so a added a little grease and now it feels very smooth both free spinning and under load. No play in the handle, 5 bearings can (and will be added in mine) to further improve retrieve and feel. Drag is smooth, plenty if not over powered for the spool so no
Backyard cast test:
Spooled with 4lb Berkley mono on my 7'1" L feather i shot for the moon and tied on a tiny .6g bluegill jig which is the lightest ive ever attemped to cast on casting gear, set the brakes to 10 and slowly worked down the brake dial. At level 10 i was getting around 20 feet distance but you could tell the brakes were holding the lure back. Best results came from the brakes set at 7.5. Average of 10 casts was 33 feet (11yards) with a rod not designed for baits this small. This was with both overhead and side arms casts. I could put 10 casts into a 2 foot circle so its decently consistent for this weight of lure. I went as low as a 5 brake setting and could get over 40 feet but it was hard to control. A different rod/line combo would probably help but if youre fishing small streams and distance isnt an issue the air stream will go light. There was no wind when i tested which helped tremendously.

Beautiful reel! Thanks for weighing it in. 9.1g is a little disappointing though, was hoping 8g or less.

That weight most likely includes the bearing and bearing sleeve. I bet that spool is well under 8 grams without bearing.

Good point. What's the weight of the standard Alphas Air spool (including bearing) again, please? I have read it somewhere, but forgot.
Need a good excuse to get this reel as an addition to the Aldebaran :D

that bearing with sleeve is almost 2 grams so the spool is probally closer to 7-8 grams. Very similar to the zonda bfs spool so performance should be great.

Spool is super shallow, lol.
Was tossing a 1/16 oz hair jig and came down to the knot every time.
Solid performer

9.53g for the alphas air
9.15g for the air stream custom on the same scale.

Up to 40ft with .6g jig on a 7ft light action(not Ul) rod?
Holy sh*t

Yeah i was surprised a bit myself granted i had to pick out backlashes on those casts near 40ft. Jig is .63g to be exact and rather aerodynamic since it was a plastic minnow with a jighead but still thats pretty dang lightweight. Also my measurements were from where i was standing so subtract rod and arm length from each distance so with my short arms and rod probably 8-9ft less. The feather rod is pretty soft tipped, just shaking it can get it to whip around a bit. But the spool startup is crazy light, as the jig weight was plenty heavy to get the spool moving and the jig would slowly accelerate to the floor.
