No love for the Scorpion1500? (JDM CU200BSF). After all, let us not forget that these reels are still Rollin strong.

TD ito just because "JDM".... also I love the Shimano Met DC reels, love it on windy days and that sweet whine when you cast.....
Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
+1 on the Conquest 101HG. Just picked one up and it's one sweet reel. Some of my other favorites include Monoblocks, Zillion J-Dream, and Ryoga 1016 and LIN variants.papabassin wrote:My favorite so far is the Calcutta Conquest 101HG. But then again, I have only cuddled with the Z2020 Black LTD so far.

I do have a Shrapnel my friend...haven't had a chance to get her on the water. She will live on a SRD...really want a new ski Legend Elite/Tranx combo.Mike and Pike wrote:Nice. I personally just could not commit to a 20 oz reel. That Tranx is a beast and a half, literally.
Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
The TD-Z and Steez both have stood the test of time. They were way ahead of their time with their lightness and easy handling profile. The TD-Z would still be relevant with today's extra high speed gears. It's crazy to think how both reels still have top angler's fishing different variants of them on the major tours.
Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
I'm not a Shimano fan at all BUT pure JDM, Calcutta Conquest DC or Antares DC.
Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
I know most people are listing bass reels but I still keep wanting to get an evergreen Oceanus even though I might only get to use it once a year.

Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
i would have to say out of all the jdm reels ive owned, it would have to be the evergreen opus-1. just pure joy and a total statement of the direction and values of evergreen in every aspect. packaging, looks, feel, mechanicals, performance. for me, it hasnt been matched, even by the top products from the big 2, the stella and the steez exist.
if only they would produce a baitcaster with the same approach...

Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
Another TD-Z JDM variant fan here. I've tried many Shimano and Daiwa reels over the years and none come close to the way it fits in my hands and the tight tolerances in design. Plus all the tuning components still available for it. A close second would be the Zillion J Dream and original HLC.
Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
Obtained a whole lot of different JDM baitcasters and spinners over the years, and although it does have it's limitations as far as applications, the single finest JDM for me is the Shimano Conquest 51.
Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
Less experienced than most of you, but the newest Conquest 101 is the finest piece of fishing equipment my hands have ever fondled. Not sure how it fishes compared to other legends, or if that was a part of this post, but from a machining and overall quality standpoint it is tops for me. Only complaint is gold vs silver; I would have preferred silver.
