Black Jungle Deep Throat Custom

Post by Katron » Tue Jul 26, 2016 8:24 am

Whats the skinny on this rod? It looks to me like a shorter mid and deep crank rod. Sounds like it falls right in between the Swingfire and the Launcher, with the black jungle beauty and blank quality of course. I'm looking for something that handles Rapala DT 10 to 16 with authority.

One thing I know for sure, the name is humorous

Everybody loves a BJ Deep Throat. One of Megabass' best.

I own that rod.

The DEEP THROAT is a great rod for sure :D, caught some bass on 3/16Oz chatterbaits, I like that Medium Fast action, it's not really moderate like the Swingfire or the new THE TOMAHAWK.
Paired it with Zillion TW SV 5.5
I'm not a big cranker, haven't caught a fish on crankbait using that rod yet, but I haven't really tried, I fish shallow, small waters right now, because of that summer craziness on our big lakes.
The rod feels a little bit heavy though, total weight - 155g , if you compare it to the new Poison Glorious series, I guess because of that glass in it.

The Tackle Trap has the BJ Deep Throat in stock

I'm a big fan of the Black Jungle series in general and this one is somewhat surprising in that I expected a much more moderate tapered, noodle feel since it's a glass blend. It will make a great vibrating jig/chatter bait rod for guys looking for something along those lines. Feels like it'll be great with square bills, top waters, and mid-to-deep cranks... regardless, the name is hilarious!

That's great to hear. I was hoping it had a mod-fast taper. Sounds like it would be a very sweet all around treble bait rod. How well do you think it would handle 3/4 oz baits? The largest heaviest I would want to throw is the Arashi deep 18 at 7/8oz, but that would only be occasionally. Mostly staying in the 1/2oz range with cranks, spooks, and poppers.

No problem. I believe a 6XD will be the upper end of what I'd want to throw on it. The 1/2 oz range with trebles will be in the zone indeed and 3/4 oz won't be a problem either.

Dammit Dale

There is still a bunch of extra space in the back of the shop, talk about a model for expansion!

According to the Megabass website description, this shaft has a lot of stickiness to it.

Just sayin'.
