It says a C3000 is a 2500 frame with the 3000 spool. Wasn't that always the case anyhow? The 3000 was always the 2500 frame with a bigger spool right? I am understanding that the difference is the "S" which designates shallow spool vs the normal deeper US spools.

What size frame is the 2000 then? I always felt that the 2500 was too big and the 1000 was too small. I lik ehow Daiwa has the 2000 that is what I feel is the perfect size for all purpose freshwater.
1000-C2000S vs 2000S-C3000 share the same bodies but have different size spools and handle lengths. I find the C2000 the perfect size for bass/walleye.

- C2000 has a 1000 body with a 2000 size spool and a 40 or 45mm handle (compared to the 1000's 35 or 40mm).

- 2000 has a 2500 body with the 2000 spool and a 50 or 55 mm handle.

Awesome, I was about to drop a post asking about the "C" notation on the japan FK

So for ex, the C2000hgs is a 1000 body with 2500 shallow spool and rotor?
I noticed the handle length and weight difference as well.
Thanks!

Close...A C2000HGS is a high gear/shallow spool with a 1000 body and a 2000 size spool (smaller than the 2500 spool). It'll have a handle length between a 1000 and 2500 size reel.

I'm not 100% positive about the rotor but believe it's a 1000 size rotor on 1000/C2000...a 2500 size rotor on 2000/2500/C3000.

Thanks for the info Vinnie.

I got the the "C" and "S" annotations down but wasn't sure where the 2000 size fell. The 1000 frame is pretty small. I think a 2000S might what I need for my new NRX.

Any updates on this reel? Will it be silver or black...I can't tell from the picture? Looks like a sweet reel and I like the new handle knob. I got used to the EVA on my Ci4+ but still prefer the flat knob. I hope this reel performs as good as it looks and hope it's available soon.

talked with some Shimano guys. They had said the reel was just shown to them this past week and they were not aloud to talk about it. Im sure someone around here will spill the beans.
