My thinking was that I'd get the Shallow model for the spool and it would be easier to find a regular spool.

Does anyone know if a regular Calcutta 50 (which I have) spool will fit on the Conquest 50 S.

If not I'll just get the regular spool elsewhere because it would be nice to have 2 Spools.

At worst, if there is a problem with the reel I could send it out to be "tuned" or repaired.

Anything else I should consider?
Been down that path with a CNQ 50s, you'll need more than just the spool, will need a separate brake case as the brake holders and brake sizes are different, the handle is a plate rather than forged like the std. Then I went left and bought a CQ 51.
With a "full sized" CNQ 50 drags up and 3rd party finesse spools by and large out perform the relatively heavy 50s spool.
But all in all its not an expensive process and you will have a more special looking reel.

Thanks for the comments, Martin.

The 50 S will arrive Monday so after considering your experience, I think I'll just keep it stock rather than try to put another spool on it. I have a couple of reels that should cast lighter basis as well ( Aldebaran 50 and Airy Red Pixy) so this would do really well for small Wacky weightless worms.

I have 2 rods without reels for the 50 S and the 15Conquest 100 HG. A Megabass Cyclone and a Medium Avid 7''.

Not sure how I'll match them up. Maybe need another light rod. Maybe get a Jackson Basti.

Update: received both the used 50S and new 15 Conquest 100HG.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: put 50S on a 7 foot custom Lamiglas rod UL. Spooled it with 8# Japanese PE AND 7# Fluoro and cast the tiny 48 Pointer with it. WOW! Fantastic! I may not have to do anything to this reel.

Put the 100HG ON A Megabass Cyclone with 30# Sufix 832 and 10# Fluoro leader and cast small cranks. Magnificent.
Both are winners and I find I like eye SHAPE of the old 50S a little better. Fits my medium hand better.

Now I'm just waiting to see what Ian can do with the barely used Calcutta 50 I sent to him for cleaning and upgrades.
Be fun to compare the 3.

I'm confused about spool options for my Shimsno Calcutta Conquest 50 and 100 model reels made before 2012. What does "50S" mean? The spool on my model 50 reel is pretty shallow and I'd like a deeper spool to allow more line capacity.

I've been fishing salt water for the past 30 years but am transitioning to freshwater fishing. I taught myself how to cast bait casting reels and never want to use a spinning reel again. Shimano Calcutta Conquest reels and Abu Garcia Morrum reels have spoiled me. Is it possible to purchase a deeper spool for my model 50 Conquest reel that was made one generation ago before 2012?

Thank you for listening to me. Any advice will be
greatly appreciated.

Hey Bill, 50S means a shallow spool from the Conquest 50 "Shallow Special". It has less capacity than a standard 50. I don't know of any deeper spool options for the Conquest 50 or 100.

Thanks for the info. Now I get it. "S' means special shallow spool. I'm all set.

I have 100, 200, and 400 conquest. Some of the best reels I have ever used. I use the 100 for topwater, 200 for my deep cranks, and the 400 for my big swimbaits.

I just picked up a really nice Conquest50 myself. Had this thing for a week, and it's an amazing little reel. Not only is it a work of art, but it's an unbelievable casting machine.
