Looking at the reel schematics on my Metanium HG, the top plate is the part of the one-pieced frame which is not detachable.
Unless u are prepared to shell out on the frame of the 15' Metanium Dc just for the new ultra cool color which I am tempted to do so.

Aldebaran is JDM name for Core.

That's the route I bet you will take. They did it with the Metanium, Antares & Calcutta Conquest as you know. I am sure the Curado and cheaper reels will be unique to JDM or USDM. High end? I bet they just change serial numbers and bring them across, nice and easy and probably saves costs for tooling in factories etc.

No new core.... Just the Aldebaran taking its place.
