Monoblock or LIN 10??????

Post by 5poundhooker » Wed Nov 05, 2014 3:02 pm

Can anyone who owns a Monoblock and a LIN 10 varient explain the difference performance and quality wise please.
I cannot decide which would be the best choice for my first round reel. I do not have a specific technique in mind I just plain want one. Thanks Lon its all your fault! :big grin:

I'm sorry, it's impossible to choose between them, you will need to buy both.

Post any more details when you find the Craig! I've seen the "Speciale" in left hand only in a publication, but no other significant details. It's gold and has 68 gears and Left handed, so I'm in for one

To the OP - both are outstanding reels. In terms of quality, they're both top of the food chain stuff in my opinion. The LIN versions with the 6.3:1 ratio are of course very versatile. Mono blocks (except HG68) are sub 6:1, though a 6.8:1 gear swap is possible. Which ever you get, you'll ultimately want one of the other, so just pick one and grab it! You can't go wrong with LIN or Monoblocks in my opinion!

It will be sad if the handle is on the wrong side of all of them all.

Any update about when will the Monoblock Speciale be released?

It was stated to be released in 2014 several months ago, and now is near the end of 2014.... :-k

Christmas present?

With Megabass you never know, all part of the MB magic
Expecting a low speed FX with the gold trimmings, that handle will be part of some more MB cross pollination

No carbon handle? That should drop the price by 100 buskc or so. :-) Or increase it by 200 bucks.

For me I chose my Ryoga 1016 over a monoblock so I suppose the Lin reels would be my choice. I like having the clicky bits and prefer the feel of the Ryoga.

I own both type of reels but definately prefer the monoblock. The Lin10 looks awesome but in my opinion it feels just like another ryoga. Especially (and unfortunately since I own one) the "origin". The monoblock on the other hand has got some real magic in it. I just wish I could explain...

Monoblock Speciale?

Just sent an email to a Megabass dealer asking release date, they replied.
I saw a photo that Megabass was scheduled to release Monoblock Speciale and IS Cover Hacking in 2014. Now is near the end of 2014 but I still do not see them on Megabass website. Do you know when will they be available for purchase?

We asked Megabass about the date when the item will be launched. They said it's not yet determined.
Guess the Monoblock 2014 has really become the Monoblock 2015. Opps no Christmas present for this year. :^o
