I've taken the no brake system at all approach (vbs isn't installed at all) and have used different viscosity bearing oils to get "cast control"... Works surprisingly well, while an educated thumb is needed i can cast 1/8oz no problem even into a direct headwind and am getting about 25-30 feet with a 1/16oz pins minnow now but need a bit more practice. Calcutta 50, avail spool, boca orange seals, 6lb FC. My rod is only rated down to an 1/8oz, so i'm tempted to throw the reel on my st croix ul spinning rod to see if it helps any, if it does i have to order a volkey i guess...
