Hi's Tackle Box has Daiwa's JDM surf rods built with these guides in their store. They're pretty impressive in person:

Daiwa is putting carbon fiber guides on surf rods while Shimano/loomis is using recoils on their flagship $550 NRX's. ](*,)

Talk about contrast....

Dude- that sounds awesome!
Do you (or CAL or anyone else) know if these will be making they're way to bass rods? I'd be all over new steez rods if they had these =P~ .

Daiwa already has them on one bass rod -- the JDM Heartland HL6102LFS-AGS13, which is a 2-piece, fast action, finesse spinning rod with a megatop solid tip section. These guides were introduced a couple of years ago, and Daiwa has been steadily refreshing many of the rods in their top lineups with AGS versions. I think Daiwa Australia also introduced their own lineup of AGS-guided rods in the past year as well. Daiwa is clearly investing a lot in this technology.

I think it's only a matter of time before you start to see more bass rods with AGS guides -- though you may have to wait a little longer to get a casting rod with them. I've only seen them applied to spinning rods so far.

They are already being utilized on the JDM Saltiga conventional jigging rods! :D

I think the guides look smoken hot. Might want a carbon kevlar vise a carbon fiber, the material is a lot more flexible, and allow for a mistake vise just breaking. I have both types of motorcycle fairings and the kevlar hold up a lot better.

A full set of CF guides weighs the same as a single Fuji stripping guide. Apart from the weight advantage the tend to quicken the action of a rod.
