J dream or Zillion PE special 7.9
i am thinking to purchase one of these reel for jig and worm. i saw many comment, but i don't really understand what is the difference between those reel.
i am planning to use the reel to fish jig(3/8 oz- 3/4 oz) and soft plastic ( weightless - 3/4 oz), fishing at lily-pad and flipping docks all the time

The PE Special has a Daiwa tuned super fast line guide. The J Dream, mechanically is relatively similar to the PE special, minus the super fast highspeed line guide
I am actually looking to pull the trigger on the PE special too

They are both great reels...that being said I would go with the PE special as that is the only I currently own.

i added the Shimano JDM Antares 2012, because i need a reel for my NRX 873 CCR.
The zillion PE special 7.9 is using the shallow spool, it it going to be fine with 55 lb braided line?

My J Dream can hold 200m of #2 YGK PE line (33lb). Personally I prefer the J-Dream colour scheme.

i am going to use Daiwa Samurai Braided Line 55lb, i hope i can get more than 100m line on the spool
Re: J dream or Zillion PE special 7.9
I went with the PE due to the lighter spool ( I have the PE spool in a Fuego) and you are talking throwing weightless plastics so less spool weight will help this. Plus you also talked about flipping docks you can load up the spool much the same way people use the Pixy for flipping. Plus I am not big on the Rising Sun on the side of the Dream.

You need more than 100m for flipping jigs around docks & lillypads? Lol what are you fishing for?littlefish wrote:i am going to use Daiwa Samurai Braided Line 55lb, i hope i can get more than 100m line on the spool

i know flipping doesn't need lot of line, but i hope i don't need to refill the line during summer.
i also use the reel to cast the soft plastic, so i think i may need more line and 100m line is not that much
i never used a shallow spool and i want to find out is it enough for the technique

Have a read of my previous review featuring the finesse ability of the J-Dream. Though some picture links aren't working anymore. I ll hv to fix it later.

The J-Dream has the lightest spool (11g) among all Zillions. With a full spool of braid it may just add a few grams to 15g, which is still as light as an empty spool of many finesse baitcasters (Alphas spool 16g). I have no problem casting lures down to 1/8oz with the right rod. For weightless plastics such as senko the plastic itself would weigh 3/16- 1/4oz already, shouldn't be a problem for the J-Dream.
