yea, Murata san is too skilled. Pendulum casting with a bass rod?!?

I'm wondering whats the purpose of that video? Murata san probably set the brakes to zero (or close to) to demonstrate his casting skills and the casting distance of the new antares.

i wonder how does the new brakes work for simpler tasks like pitching?

Does anyone know if ABU came out with anything? I know they have had the Big Shooter on the purefishing site for awhile, and it seems like they have an aluminum MGX called the ALT. Nothing at the Osaka show?

this is from their website:
http://translate.google.com/translate?s ... 20203.html

seems to suggest 2 other new products that will debut in March.

The new Revo Alt looks cool tho. If only Abu can provide the weighing scale readings of their spools...
check out the Revo Alt below:

no idea whats going on at Abu's booth at the Osaka '12. seems a lil quiet.

I kept the same idea from some video I just saw.

After all, swept handles do exist for a reason beside the cool factor :-k

Probably because the handles stick farther out than "non swept" handles?

yes swept handles are very common place in offshore reels where you're using larger line classes, higher drag ratings, heavier weights, and most importantly battling stronger bigger saltwater species than your typical black bass or smallie.

when i'm using fishing 40# mono on a Daiwa Saltist 30H (which already weighs over 17oz on an empty spool) and i'm fighting a 20lb yellowtail or a 30lb albacore tuna, the swept handle definitely is preferred.

on a sub 7oz reel cranking on a 6lb bass, i cant say its any benefit at all... my personal experience.

I had that feeling that this year's fishing show wasn't too much going on.
maybe they need a little time for development and had too many exciting things in the past few years.
anyone has that feeling too?

Yeah, last year Shimano came out with the Scorpion DC, Conquest 50DC, and the Poison Glorious line. Daiwa came out with the Z and T3 at ICAST. I just got my JDM Shimano and Daiwa catalogs and what we saw is what we got. I did notice Shimano came out with some new affordable bass rods named Expride.. they look nice. And also expanded the Poison Glorious line. Im thinking next year will be big.. perhaps a new Calais DC \:D/
