The 'new' Zillion
I've been a daiwa user for ages. With the 'new' Zillion scheduled for launch at the Fishing Show this weekend, it seems to me that Daiwa may be running out of creative ideas. Although I think it looks great, it's not a completely new reel so to speak.

That flag is Tacky, 7.5oz, wish it was in the 6oz range.

7.9:1 gear ratio and longer handle means power and speed, I don't know what would they call the gear ratio speed name, seems like hyper speed is already taken and the highest.

Re: The 'new' Zillion
The 'masses' asked for an aluminum TDZ under 8oz with 5.3,6.3,7.9 ratios.A reel with sufficient line capacity, refinement and smooth retrieve.Manufactured in Japan with a logo just to remind you of the origin.
You also get the 'Japanese' pricing to match. What more could you ask for
Alternatively ,you could always purchase a new revolutionary, 'plastic',better priced, out sourced reel

Happiness is a sore thumb
Re: The 'new' Zillion
Like a friend said, that's just a face lift - it looks nicer than existing zillions but it brings nothing new, just a further refined version and pricier... Still, that's the first Zillion I'd consider buying if running out of older TD-Z, being them plain or tuned typer+ (but that will never happen).

Re: The 'new' Zillion
Zillion was never one of my favorite reels (could never warm to it after it's introduction and the demise of the TD-Z). It is nice to see it's weight reduced to that of a Fuego for only $312 more)

WOW. close to 600 bucks for a zillion? No thanks. It does look nice, though, and I'm sure someone here will get it. It surely won't be me with that horrific exchange rate.
Re: The 'new' Zillion
The information says it is a 2012 Limited Edition reel. I don't think it is a "new" Zillion model. I think it is based on the HLC...as they also talk about spool weight reduction.
Re: The 'new' Zillion
Zillion again???? For this prise???
Daiwa you nut...

Re: The 'new' Zillion
Price needs to be lowered. Out of the Zillions, my preference would be to get the Type-R, best overall bang for the buck for performance (great casting/pitching ability, strongest drag of all Zillions, bearing supported CF handle, and nice black color scheme lol)

Actually, compared to the dreadful Dobyns Coalition Weapon rods, I find the Zillion logo totally benign and even classy.RWSCHMITZ wrote:That flag is Tacky, 7.5oz, wish it was in the 6oz range.
But instead of flag logos, I would prefer if Daiwa simply kept making more of its reels in Japan.

That's what I thought when i read "2012年度限定生産". Taken from Gogle Translate:Tokugawa wrote:The information says it is a 2012 Limited Edition reel. I don't think it is a "new" Zillion model. I think it is based on the HLC...as they also talk about spool weight reduction.
[Limited production model year to compete in the 2012 Jirion name machine and retrieve 手返Shi sensitivity. Spool with super lightweight duralumin also support the weight of the rig as the following pitching 10g. Bass Pro dream of working in a Japanese American, heavy users that embody the dream of seeking a world record in Japan.
Aluminum Crank Handle with 100mm only 7.9 type (90mm handle other models).]
Perhaps the limited edition explains the price tag.

And clearly the reel is not intended for the US.knht wrote:That's what I thought when i read "2012年度限定生産".
