Conquest 51: How light of a lure can it cast?

Post by i_am_R2 » Sun Jan 29, 2012 12:39 am

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a rod to pair with a Conquest 51 to cast lighter baits. Does somebody have information on how light of a lure it can cast comfortably (the reel is stock)? I tried searching but can't seem to find anything, so if anyone can provide some feedback that would be awesome.

Thanks!

i have also the stock reel.
It handles very well small jigs of 1/8 oz , little spinnerbaits with 1/8 oz weight of the jig attached , even 1/4 oz large spoons with are usually hard to be cast with baitcast reels .

This are the lowest weoghts i fished the reel very well .
maybe with tunnings the reel handles also lower weights .

yea... 3.5g is the comfort zone for stock... altho after upgrade 3g is still nice to cast with, provided the lure is aerodynamic enough, tried aerodynamic 2g too, can cast without backlash but no distance

I don't go below 1/8 oz. but my CQ50 handles that very well. My CQ50S handles 1/8 oz. about as well as my Pixzillas.
