to me it looks like they moved the star outboard of the handle, the little black cap has grips on it like its meant to be turned.

The more I review the new Antares the more I talk myself into wanting one. I am having a hard time spending the money for a DC on a non DC model but I like all the modifications over the old model. Being a lefty I guess I won’t have to make up my mind until April, and hopefully someone here will post a review of their right hand model while I wait. Hint hint! Only thing that would cause me to reconsider would be a new Conquest with X-ship.
I would need to decide which one to order first. :lol22:

It seems Shimano has a good history of bringing over their models to the US. Maybe this year it will be released here as a new Calais at ICAST?

well, guess it really depends on what you're going to do with your reels.

for heavier stuff, there's nothing that beats the Antares DC or the Calais DC for that matter. really smooth and excellent casting.

I'm looking for the one reel that does it all, and now that Calcutta has undergone a facelift, I've got a hunch that the new Conquest is not to far off.

Not just a facelift brother :big grin: They redid the majority of the reel in my opinion. So maybe the Antares DC is undergoing a update as well 8-)

x ship is a dual bearing supported pinion gear that makes the retrieve smoother.

If Shimano releases the new Antares during Icast, what will happen. Will they downgrade certain parts for the US and at what price point considering the lousy exchange rate right now.

If I tried to cast like that in my boat, I'd fall in the lake and drown.

What's still unclear though is the setup, esp. rod length and plug weight.

That's pretty much how surf casters cast I think. Similar to the pendulum cast.

Nice video. The rod is the newly added World Shaula 17113R-2, 2.4m length 8ft.

http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/rod/1675

The new World Shaula also looks sick with that chameleon paint :)

BTW, it is No.2 mono in JPN standard, JDM 8lbs test, diameter 0.235-0.24mm.
