Dragonfly Popper---

Post by Lightninrod » Wed May 11, 2005 4:35 pm

I bought two of the River2Sea Dragonfly Poppers and tried them out today. On my second cast with the first one I tried, one of its 'wings' broke off. Didn't hit anything with it, just cast it onto the water and...

The wings and its light weight(3/16 oz) make it hard to cast. The wings catch the air and cut down on any respectable distance in the cast. I was throwing it on my 7' Medium Light Helium and my Pixy reel spooled with 30# test(8# mono diameter) braid line and it 'performed' terribly. It doesn't even float. It justs hangs with the lexan 'cup' underwater making it hard to get any "dragonfly" action out it.

I am terribly underwhelmed with them  .

Thanks for the report Dan. I like to see either good or bad on items.

If the wings came off that easy, what happens if a bass does hit it? If they came in a bag of 10 for $3, I would expect it to fall apart.

Lightninrod,

i also recieved 2 of the lures a couple of days ago. i've yet to get to use them, but i was thinking exactly what happened to you. the wings look VERY fragile. they were not cheap lures to begin with and for them to be that fragile is utter BS. maybe ill get lucky and they will perform better for me, but after seeing this i've already lost any confidence i might have had in the lure.
