JDM Reel Showdown ... there can only be one...

Post by Cal » Wed Mar 16, 2011 11:17 am

Based on the results of our two JDM Reel polls:

Favorite JDM Reels : Non Daiwa

and

Your Favorite JDM Daiwa Baitcaster

The front runners are obvious... and now the tough decision. You can only have one. Which one is it?

I have to pick the Pixy. This is the reel that introduced me to finesse fishing and JDM fishing tackle. Plus, they are kind of their own family of reels that has never seen the US shores via the factory company. We have had TD-Zs, Alphas, and Conquest (even though ours are less refined and might have other names like SOL, Calcutta, and Fuego) yet even with all of our grey market purchases of this reel, Daiwa still does not offer one, even if it was a watered down version.

There are just too many things "Right" with the Conquest 50 to "Not" get my vote.

Goodness! Pixy or Conquest 50 huh? You didn't say Pixzilla so I assume you're talking about stock reels. In that case, it's the Conquest 50 for sure.

Conquest 51 for me. There is nothing quite like it. Oozes Swiss watch engineering, looks like a toy but performs like a big boy.

Hmm I would have thought there would be more love for Type R+'s.

If you choose the R+ you can always get a 105 spool and rival Pixy and Conquest 50 for throwing light baits.

conquest 51 for sure... it's a beauty n engineering marvel straight out of box... n the price just dont hurt as much as they perform compared to any other reel listed

wan to cast light lures better than pixy or any other reel out there? just get a shallow spool for ur lovely 51/50. And u get 1 ultimate reel that can do it all, really... becos tat's wat i'm doing as i cant afford so many reels, heheheh.

If I can only have one reel, I choose the ITO.

Luckily I can have more
