Something for fun.. your favorite JDM Daiwa Baitcaster

Post by Cal » Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:46 pm

Concentrating on Daiwa only, which are your three favorite and/or most coveted baitcasting reels. Most of these are limited run reels, and all of them are JDM only.

Pick up to three reels, and change your vote at any time.

Survey was limited to 15 choices, hence Daiwa only and pretty much the reels off the top of my head. ;)

Great minds must think alike ;) .

I own all three at the moment (2 different variations of the TD-Ito -- 103M and 103H), and probably always will. I would seriously have a tough time letting any of these go.... The R+ is the best all-around reel ever IMO. The Presso is rare, unique, and a blast for throwing light presentations and has a perfectly matched drag for its purpose. Last, the Itos are fun to look at, and with the right upgrades, make some very SOLID workhorses.

BTW, GREAT idea Cal! I can't wait to see the rest of the board's replies. :D
JDM quality is unsurpassed. Period.

A tough one! I selected from my Daiwa JDMs that I actually use and did not consider the 'shelf queens', so its:

Presso (Presszilla incarnation)
TD-Z R+
Custom TD-Z.

Hear some 'rumbling' where the other JDMs are stored  (how in the h**l could he pick that one; I was here first; I have landed bigger fish...)

i chose the deps out of those as the other 3 jdm daiwa reels i have are not on the list. the dep just strikes a chord with me. its not flashy, its understated but totally sexy plus its bulletproof aside from its surprisingly easy to scratch finish. plus the cool factor is out of this world.

My ito 103m is by far my favorite followed by the PX68 and Light. The ito with upgraded bearings, drag and handle is an absolute pitching machine.

It's been a couple of years but the Ito M and Pixy were two of my favorite reels. Type R rounded it out.

EDITED DOWN THE END:

Don't own any JDM Daiwas, but I have coveted the TDZ Type R+ for years. Would give it all 3 votes if I could. The other two would be the PX68 and Zillion HLC.

2. Zillion HLC
3. Zillion HLC

(I only voted for it once though!)

The HLC was up there, but I just love the Monoblocks.
