The SCARFACE is here ( Updated with Pictures )

Post by superman_36 » Thu Aug 30, 2007 6:31 pm

Move over Megabass Shiryu there is a new crankbait stick in town  . I fished the Scarface heavily from deep diving, to shallow crankbaits. I tied on s spinnerbait, and even a rattle trap. The rod performed great but I never got that big fish to put it to the test. I did land a few 1 1/2 - 2 1/2lb bass. the rod is similar to the Shiryu but lighter in weight and in the action it is a perfect rod between my Major Craft Mo- Mi- Jo and the Megabass Shiryu. I will post some Pictures tomorrow afternoon along with the 3 other rods I received .

Yeah man, cause this thread is pretty damn useless without pics :)

As far as the lighter weight, that's a plus for sure, especially on a rod such as a cranking stick, what length did you get? Is it glass, composite, graphite, etc? Moderate action? Single piece? Are you gonna make me come fish the honey hole to find out? :D

I keep trying to find a weekend for that, things like life and tournaments keep getting in the way, though, and now we're planning a FL trip :)

dampeoples
you are welcome anytime just let me know when 8-) As for the rod it is a one piece, as for the blank I don't want to speculate since I have never heard a definitive answer but I think it is a Glass composite. I was just comparing the Scarface and the Shiryu and they are close in blank action. I will do better test on Friday

glass composite

Are you fishing it with all the weights installed in the custom fuji WBS? Did you get any Gancraft Bacra cranks to throw on it?

When you get a chance take a picture of the Scarfaces butt blank diameter compared to the Shiryu. Then maybe how it transitions to the tip. It might be kool to show the show some visual differences between a glass, and a glass composite blank. I know alot of people are scared of glass just by sight. I think for the JDM crowd this is going to be the cranking stick that even the graphite crankers that prefer light weight and sensitivity will transition to. It is going to give them what they are use to , but allow them to experience the forgiving buttery smooth action and fishing fighting of a fiberglass stick throwing cranks.

I think it is also a big plus that the weight in the butt is removable vs the Shiryu being fixed . Your going to be able to balance to indivdual needs.

The only downside is the length, but hopefully we will see a 7ft cranker next year. However, I know what is replacing my 6'6-sub 7 cranking sticks. It would have been kool if it was spiral wrapped, but at least you got the ecentric reversed first guide.

Nice Stick !

Half of the big bass go to Vermont for the cool weather and pleasant vistas.
Other half go to El Salto for the lovely chicas and sizzling salsa dancing.
