Just got my first Megabass rod!

Post by krinkle » Thu Nov 30, 2006 7:14 pm

Wow, what a nicely detailed rod! I will fish it this weekend. It is a MEGABASS F4-65XDti. I ordered it from Plat since they had it on sale. I matched it up with my Alpha-Ito that I got about a month ago.

Really amazed at the attention to detail! Ton more photos here. Anyways just thought I'd share.

I love that stick. I burn blades with it in open water.

This rod looks slightly different than the F4-65XDti Cyclone Evolution shown on the Megabass,USA website (see pic below), which appears to have both purple and red anodized trim rings on the handle.

Am I missing something or have they changed this model??? I was going to buy one of these but, I wanted one that looks the same as the one shown below.

Krinkle just has a newer year model. Here are some more differences. I actually like the new year model.

Which is the newer model... the one Krinkle got or the one shown on the Megabass site now (same as in the pic I posted)??

Good information... Glad I didn't spend $500 on a new stick only to find that it looks different than the one I thought I was buying based on the photo on their website.

You'd think that a company selling premium rods at premium prices would keep current images on thir website. Thanks for the info.

You can not trust what you see on the web when it comes to MB. They change up components all the time. I would not give up though. It is always possible that Masaki or Plat has the one you want in stock. I have even seen them change just a production run for a few rods, and then change back. I have seen about 4 variations of the diablo for example. I would not give up though. It is always possible that Masaki or Plat has the one you want in stock.

I know what you mean, but it doesn't bother me really. I bought this for the performance. I did notice the differences, but once you have it in your hands, well it's a sweet rod.

You could always contact MB USA and find out what they can do for you.

I like your rod much better myself over mine. It is much crisper and clean looking. I also like the metal connector on yours. .

Krinkle,

Sweeeeeet looking stick. :D

I got my first MB, the F2-64XS Ltd, last week. Love it, and its a dream to use.

Stunning is the only way to describe the Megabass products.

Cool! I can finally get me another DTI....sold the last one and was hoping and waiting on some changes......NICE! Not that there was anything wrong with the last one, just figured they'd change a little for '07 like the Destroyer line. Don't ever trust the U.S. site at all.....they still have the old curved handle Tomahawks pictured.....I bet quite a few people are getting a big surprise on delivery.

Nautilus...

"Surprise" would be an understatement when shelling out $400-500 for a rod. I not only want it to look like their catalog images; I want it delivered by a naked Japanese chick.

Have you got a link to the Megabass Japanese site?
