Some tasteful orange color parts to play off the orange of the spool spacers and that glossy black Alphas would look slick. I don't need yet another Alphas it is tempting.

Wonder how long till there is a shallow spool available for it, though I have another reel inbound to test out first.

Sawamura (KTF) insinuated that he would be doing something in the new year with the platform. Not sure if that means spools or silly "engine covers". Not that you can even get your hands on his 34MM spools without full diplomatic credentials.

ZPI just introduced the Air Epic, sounds like a great spool, but it's just a pair of sunglasses...

I hope he does a shallow spool, or someone does one. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised it we see a shallow once from Ray's Studio.

Guys, I'm just asking here. Considering the line limitations of the regular spool in the 70 series reels. how much line would you expect a shallow spool to hold?

For small stream trout fishing 30m of braid PE.4 is more than enough for my needs. Something like the Microcast with 1.5-2mm of space.

I remember seeing in one of the Japanese videos say it was the same spool as the Steez CT. Mine cleared customs today, should be here today or tomorrow for sure! \:D/

Interested to see how this little reel performs!! I see you're in TX hopefully you can get it out soon. Do you have a SV 105 to compare it to?

I have several Alphas / Pixy variants but no sv105... The only SV reel I own is a Steez SV. I’m off work tomorrow so I should be able to get it out and take it for a spin, if the rain lets up. I’m hoping it outperforms my new favorite finesse reel, the Aldebaran 30 MGL. I always thought my pixies and Alphas finesse custom were great and they are but my Alde 30 is a considerably better caster in my hands. I don’t go as low as some of you guys here in terms of weight, the smallest stuff I cast is a 4” Ocho / Senko wacky or a weightless super fluke Jr with a 1/0 hook and that Alde bombs them! Hopefully I’ll have something to report tomorrow.

My experience with SV spooled reels is that they won't cast as far. Hopefully this one really screams though:) I had an SV 105 and a Scopion 71, which I still own, the Scorpion was hands down the better caster.

My 70 cleared customs today but they are deciding to take a longer look at the sv105 so it may take a day or 2 longer to get here. They will be compared to each other and my scorpion 70.

Well, it came in today and got to spend about an hour and a half with it. I thought the finish was going to be a little more charcoal gray than black but it’s growing on me. There are no bearings under the handle knobs but I took care of that already... I casted with a 3/8 casting plug at the house which it absolutely bombs! I loaded it with 12lb pline flouroclear and paired it with my Expride BFS 7’2”ml. I didn’t get to hook up with any fish but it cast a weightless “4 Senko and super fluke Jr as good as my Aldebaran 30 MGL, which means it’s a keeper! Pretty happy with it so far, can’t wait for spring so I can really get a feel for it! I’ll try to get some photos and more info posted after dinner...
