Posting in Classifieds Forum

Post by Greg64 » Sun Jan 17, 2016 8:08 pm

How does one start a new topic or reply to existing ones in the Classifieds forum? I went there; but, neither the "Start New Topic" or "Post a Reply" buttons appeared.

To post to the FS&T section you have to have 100 posts to the forum.

Reasoning being this prevents drive-by sellers and possible scammers to join TT just to sell items or bilk the membership. The moderators watch new members and their posts to ensure someone is not running up post counts (using short or one word posts to topics) just to gain access. They also have the ability to place such members in a "no sale" status so even when the reach 100 posts, access is still denied.. Again, as a way of protecting the membership (as best they can). Additionally, with the 100 post rule, it allows a new member to contribute to the forum discussions so the membership gets to know a new person a bit better before entering into a business transaction.

Hope that explains it. :D

Shouldn't. Rules are there for a reason.

Just wondering if time spent on Tackle Tour should count as much as posting? I've posted less than 100 times even though I've been here for 5 years
YMMV

Just spitballing here as I don't, repeat DO NOT know the ruling for sure regarding the situation, but I would think that buying thru PM wouldn't be frowned upon like selling....I think the 100 post rule is meant for selling, as only the seller is in a position to do someone dirty, not the buyer...maybe Cal will drop thru and clarify

Right, I've seen it said that it's fine to buy through PM. Just not post on the forums.
It is kind of in keeping with TT, since most of the deals in the classifieds are for much more high end gear than most places it makes sense to restrict it to people that have shown themselves more or less to be trustworthy, when there's that much money at stake.
Of course it's not perfect, as the recent fiasco with that super annoying member shows, but it seems to help.

I. Lost my original "drift" moniker and am starting from the ground up. It's not easy posting 100 when most of my fishing and activity is done in the northwest non bass fishing scene.
Hoping to get to 100. Maybe in another couple of years

I've purchased plenty as a buyer no problem participating in the bst

Why not just contribute to the forum like everyone else here does, then on occasion buy or sell?

Running up your post count to get to 100 so you can sell something is a sure fire way to get locked out of the For Sale Forum. ;)

I found that out the hard way! Actually contribute to relevant posts and you'll eventually get there. Don't go digging through old posts, unless they actually pertain to a specific question you may have, simply to get your post count up.
