Apple today just released their plans for the phone and how to activate it.

-$59.99 for 450 voice minutes
- $79.99 for 900 voice minutes
- $99.99 for 1,350 voice minutes

All three plans include unlimited data (email & web), Visual Voicemail, 200 SMS text messages, roll over minutes and unlimited mobile to mobile calling. Plans have a $36 one-time activation fee and are two year contracts. Family plans will also be available, but were not disclosed at this time. In addition, any standard AT&T service plan may be chosen.

Apple also clarified that activation of the iPhone and account setup will be done completely through iTunes.

HAHA it took you 6 mins to realize this? Im just curious if anyone will be getting one soon or when they come out? I dont think I can get my hands on one till DEC or earlier..maybe It looks sweet, but ATT has to come through with its network or the phone will be useless.

I really want one of those. But last time I looked they don't operate on all networks up here, namely BELL and that's a big issue.

AT&T's wireless network (formerly Cingular, formerly AT&T & Cingular) is among the most extensive in the US, so it should be fine. Zander was able to get a signal up in the high country above Yosemite for Pete's sake!

But with prices for these devices starting at $600.... eh.. no thanks

499 for the 4gig and 599 for the 8 gig yea its PRICEY! Yea AT&T SHOULD be alright, I hope. We will find out this week since I have to stay late all this week to get things going before fri.

I hear ya. I'm on my cell all dang day Last thing I want is to be bothered on the weekends. It gets shut off when I'm fishing.

Cool phone but I can't afford one. From my experience, most user-friendly phones are Nokias. Very durable, possibly one of the best looking but with the crappiest, most user-unfriendly software: Motorola. I didn't like Motorola's software in 1995 and I still don't like the one they have today. Unfortunately, my cellular phone is employer-provided and I can't choose what I like.

Is it just me that is not impressed with technology vs true engineering and craftsmanship?

Took me until this year to get a flat screen and a decent sound system and maybe, just maybe, might go Ipod this year as well.

Oh well, guess I'm old fashioned.

I'm with you on the not so interested, I appreciate what they're doing, and I love my iPod, I had my first one right after they came out, but a phone is just a phone to me. Hell, I currently use a red Nextel with Nascar #8 on it, don't even know what driver that is, i'm not a fan. One of the hinges on the flip part is broken, but it still works!!
