That is some good info Wandy, thanks for contribution.

Last year I use Spiderwire Fusion and I had no problems with it, I really like the limpness of it, ease of casting and lasted all season. I used it on a lake with stained water and around rocks.

Although one of the studies above mentioned Spiderwire's low abrasion, my use of it did not see it. I would almost always after a few casts/catching fish I would inspect the line by sight/feel and it came out a winner. However, the study does not mention if it is the mono or fusion/braided type. I suspect it being the mono brand.
I.e., see this: fusion vs mono http://www.fishsa.com/spiderwr.php

Holy Mackerel,
Are you tieing the spider wire directly to your lure, or are you use a leader?

I'll be using 30# pp(equivalent to 8# mono) im not sure if I want to use a leader, thinking about using the 30# p-line though for leader. What would be more visible the 30# pp or the P-line 30# flouroclear. I don't know, these flourocarbon lines seem very visible in the water, you can see every strand of it. Just as you would of mono.

I tie directly to the lure - no leader, i.e., zara spook tied directly.

I Tried the suffix Tritanium, it was unbelievable. Fished at dock area with wood chips and line draging through it back and forth. Caught a 17inch striper and just pulled it in, drag set very tight. I even had my 30# power pro tangle with it, I was pulling it to free my bucktail. It was like sawing on the suffix line with each pull. But No harm done to lines. It did cut casting distance a bit, I estimate about 20 yards compared to the Trilene XL which was on my other combo. Hopefully I don't have to respool it every 5 to 6 months as with the Trilene.

Has anyone used the P-Line CXX X-tra strong or the P-Line CX Premium? I need the diameter of which ever pound test your using. Thanks, I need this info before ordering, since P-Line does tend to have larger diameter compared to other brands. They don't list any of this info on their websites.

Thanks
Jinz

Yeah Yo-zuri hybrid, its stronger since it has a thicker diameter. A lot of manufactures are doing that these days, so then we feel like "hey my #12 is stronger than your 17#". But in reality the #12 probably has the same diameter as the 17# or a 20#. I like to compare diameter and not the lb test.

JIP, after testing out both the Sufix Tritanium and Power Pro. How would you compare stretches on both of these lines? I'm still using XL on my conventional but I'm thinking it has too much stretch and can barely feel any bites. I want to use braided but, am a bit worried about the backlashes. I want a to use a mono with very low stretch.

+

I just spooled up Power Pro on the baitcasting reel and practiced in the back yard throwing a hookless lure at targets. I had a few backlashes and the PowerPro was much better to untangle as compared to when mono backlashed on me. I was impressed.

Hey Jinz,

While the PP has near zero stretch, the Tritanium Plus has a nice "bounce" in the line when you tug on it, but not like mono.
It's a copolymer line, and even though it is stiffer than standard mono., there is still a little stretch in the line, thus when I use it, I don't need
to tie on a leader as I would with PP in some situations.
Because the Tritanium Plus is stiffer, I found that it was easier to get
backlashes out compared to mono. Remember, since the line is stiffer,
it will cast different than your Trilene XL since it does not wrap around
the spool like XL would. So you have to control your casts and get used
to it before you gun it. I think you can find Tritanium Plus in many stores
now, so give it a try if it fits your needs.

Thanks JIP, sure will give it a try on my one of my rigs. Those neons stp look silky smooth, should be excellent for night fishing. Unfortunately I have not found a store here that carries stp, but its not a problem, Cabelas got em.

A side note,

14# 0.35mm sufix tritanium plus breaks at 20.5 lbs
17# 0.40mm sufix tritanium plus breaks at 24.43 lbs.
20# 0.45mm sufix tritanium plus breaks at 28.29 lbs

Also heres the list of other line diameter listed in 20#. I can't believe their selling 30 pound line as 20 pound line. Which gives their company name a reputation of a "strong line". We should buy line based on diameter and not whats on the label.

Line brand based on 20 lb Label in (mm)
--------------------------------
Tuff Stuff IGFA 20# 0.33
Momoi 0.38
Silver Thread 0.39
Jinkai 0.39
Tuff Stuff Premium Mono 0.40
Momoi IGFA 0.42
Tuff Stuff Super Mono 20# 0.43
Sufix Superior 0.44
Stren EC 0.44
Izor Line Premium 0.45
Berkley Big Game 0.46
Triple Fish 0.46
Maxima Chameleon 0.46
Ande Premium 0.47
Hi Seas Quattro 0.48

Thanks for the investigate Jinz!
Looks like many of the superline/copolymer have thicker
diameter. But you can't compare that to mono right since
it's different. I don't like the thicker diameter myself.
