I just checked and actually last year on Leech Lake I was using this https://tuf-line.com/product/tuf-leader/ in 20 lb worked great with a uni to uni and a palomer knot on the lure

Lightest I could find for bass baits. 8-12 has all worked well for me in the past.

I have been fishing esox waters, fly and conventional, with every mix of other species intermixed all over the Midwest. If you buy leader fluorocarbon , and there is a huge difference between casting fluoro and leader , you can get about the best mix of abrasion resistance, blending into the environment and knot tying ability I have found . I use everything from 2 lb tippet to 130 for some muskie stuff and there is a lot to say about high quality flouro and toothies.

Excellent point that I neglected to make. Leader material is much different than your standard mainline material.
