Which is your preferred Large Mouth Bass Finesse Technique

Post by Jdmbassman »

Hi all,

What is your preferred finesse technique for large mouth bass ? I will be using a NRX 822 SYR with a C3000 Stella and 7lb Sniper.

The rod is suited to shakey head but is plenty flexible to fish light Texas / Jig Rigs.

Roboworms and Reaction Innovations Flirts look to be good baits with a 3/0 EWG hook.

I have a NRX DSR for Drop Shot so got that technique covered elsewhere, the focus of this post is on bottom contact.

Cheers

I prefer whatever technique is working that day. My "goto" techniques are wacky worming(5" Senko), dropshotting(Roboworm 4.5" Straight Tail) and spybaiting(DUO Realis Spinbait 80). I let the fish make the decision for me. ;)

About as finesse as I get for Largies is Dropshot and a small popper like a Pop-X. Otherwise I am power fishing a 5" wacky Senko, froggin, spinnerbait, pitching a jig, or smashing through cover with something heavy thats black/blue.

Ive had most success with 3-4 inch senkos wacky rigged, neko rigs, 1/16oz flickshakes, and 2.8-3inch keitech swimbaits.

Besides drop shot as you mentioned, 2nd would be a 4" weightless Senko either wacky or Texas rigged and 3rd would be a 3" tube with 1/16 oz jig head inside.

Since the focus of this post, as stated, is with bottom contact, I'd like to share that I do not believe it possible, within reason, to deadstick too large a bait. Sounds crazy, I know, but not all 'finesse' involves a mini size presentation.

On my NRX822SYR with Stella 2500 you will find it rigged with Big Bite squirrel. Love shading heads.

Sounds like the preference is for spinning gear rather than baitcasting for light Texas and Jig rigs.

Can the same be said for 1/4oz jigs and 5" Senkos ?

Doodling, or dropshot. Just depends on where in the water column they are.
