Fishing heavy jigs

Guys, when fishing a 1/2 oz jig or heavier, what line do you use? Clear water? Deep water? Stained?

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if braid with a fluoro leader would work for deep bass in 20'+ deep of water of should i go straight fluoro? I never jig for bass that deep but may be my only choice in some spots..

i was using 50lb fx2 with 20lb leader and i found i had some break off due to abrasions because of the heavy cover i fish in. I also hated to retie due to line damage, the leader always needs to be changed. I now go braid in heavy cover and flouro in weeds and docks.
