Hi,

Regarding Wacky Worm rigging:

Do you folks find it necessary, or even a good idea, to use those "O' rings for the hook; the kind that they
show going around the worm ?

Or, a needless complication, and just hook the hook right thru the center of the worm ?

Any "meaningful "differences in hookups, in your experiences ?

O rings are cheaper than senkos. Senkos will fly off the hook much sooner without the o rings.

Yes, O-rings will allow you to keep your Senkos much longer.

i use them on all stick baits but if your paying for the GYB then there a must.

use heat shrink cut into 1/4" sections...don't shrink it just leave as is , lasts way longer than O-rings and your hook orientation is perpendicular unlike the o-ring which is parallel.

X2, GYB aren't cheap

I like using the o-rings. I use two and cross them then slip the hook under the X and this allows the hook point to sit perpendicular to the bait.

That's a great damn idea!

I fish a wacky rig a lot. I only use Yamamoto Senkos for that. Through experience I can say without an O ring you would b lucky to get 1 or 2 fish per bait. With an O ring, you might get 20. I get my Senko's pretty cheap or through trades, but if you are buying them at almost 7 bucks a bag of 10, they are expensive, you simply need to use an o ring to keep it cost effective.

I just fish a hardier senko from Ozark Tackle. Worm last thru several bites typically with out having to mess it the O rings.

I bought some vinyl tubing for my 5” senkos, but haven’t had a chance to test it yet. I’ve read that it will make one Senko last for several trips. It’s definitely heavy duty stuff. For 6” and 7” I would not use o-rings, they’re so heavy that the o-ring will tear it in half. Haven’t had a chance to dial in my wacky rig yet. Anyone else use tubing?

There's no difference in hooking percentage on the fish when using O rings for me at least. With the hook exposed and being light wired, the fish will usually hook themselves and I just need to reel into them. I mainly use O rings so I don't lose the worm and can use it again.

This every time. I don't fish stick baits, rather finesse worms wacky rigged. I do indeed heat the shrinking very lightly with a lighter. This is a must with finesse worms imo, otherwise the fish just yanks the worm off the hook when it starts to tug on the end. Hook up percentage is solid, and no different than when not using the shrink. I do not like O rings unless using two, as the hook always rides sideways. Fish can also still yank the worm out of an O ring if you let them tug on it enough.
