My two cents. I just picked up a 6'10" Poison Adrena in the fall of last year. I loved that rod for a jerkbait. It will definitely be in the boat with me all this year. If the ice ever melts that is.

The one I throw is the powell max 703c. Some other good ones in the max line are the 705cb and 683 (I think). If u can't find any of those, go to the inferno crank and jerk bait series

I'm big for the Megabass Vision 110+1's, my setup is the Megabass Orochi F4.5-68XX "Jerkbait Special". Super light, parabolic when big fish are close to the boat, sensitive to feel the tick if you miss the line jump. I normally favour G.Loomis or Shimano but for jerk baits the F4.5-68XX is a amazing setup. Only fished it over 4 or 5 trips last fall can't wait to spend 3 weeks with this rod this summer.

Shimano Core 50Mg7
Sunlike Reaction FC 10lb Fluorocarbon

No bend hooks, break-offs, or lost fish. So far so good.

I use St. Croix Avid casting 6'2" M/XF. I prefer shorter rod, if you like longer the same thing in 6'8" is the way to go!

While alot of guys will suggest an extra fast rod for this technique. I'll go against the grain and say something with a more moderate action will work better when fighting a fish and for also helping the jerk bait stay in place so to speak while not having to work as hard to do it.
