Gear for Canadian trip

Hoping some on this board have been to Canada before and would have some suggestions on what gear a guy should carry up there.

There are a lot of variables. You taking a fly-in or drive in trip? Outpost, Housekeeping or American plan? What will you be fishing for?

Ditto. Canada is a big place with a lot of water and even more fish. You need to narrow this down a bit to get any good advice.

Are you being guided the entire time? Guides usually work 8 to 5 and it won't get dark up there until after 11 at night. The best time to fish up there can be in the evening. Some lodges won't let you take the boats out after dinner, some will. Sometimes to fish the evening, you have to pay the guides extra. It sucks to be stuck hanging around the lodge all evening. Your best bet is to call the lodge and ask them what lures and rods to bring and what you can expect. If you are being guided, the guides will have hook removal tools, nets etc. The lodge owner will also tell you the local regulations. I've fished up there where you were only allowed single, barbless hooks. You'll also probably have weight limitations you'll have to consider. You are paying a boatload of money to be there, get the most info you can from the lodge.

Walleye, Lots of jigs, 1/8 oz to 3/8 oz, twister tails in 3" and 4". Berkley Gulp Minnows in 3" and 4". Check with lodge if minnows are available.

Lake trout, 1/4 oz to 3/4oz jigs, 4" white Berkley Power Tubes.

A couple of spinning outfits, med-light & med, 6 1/2 to 7 ft., extra spools of line. (consider bringing a spare reel & extra spools)

Casting combo, 6 1/2 to 7ft MH.

Bug spray, rain suit, sunglasses.

Like a previous post said, check with lodge for their suggestions.
