Ice fishing?

Post by mtowner23 » Thu Jan 05, 2012 1:42 pm

I didn't do a real thorough search, but haven't seen anythign yet on ice fishing. Is that something that's talked about at all here? It's too cold up here to go out on the lakes in a boat (although steelhead are still in the rivers).

Could anyone point me in the right direction as to where to look? I'm sure I'm not the only one that's crazy enough to sit on the ice @ 10 degrees outside.

There typically isn't too much ice talk on Tackle Tour.

Some of the best ice talk I've seen (not that I've seen a lot of places) has been over on Walleye Central.

We're having unseasonably warm weather right now and the ice is real iffy for us. I haven't been out yet. Lots of guys I know still haven't put their houses out due to the poor ice conditions. I do know that some of the destination lakes a few hours north of me have very good ice and the fishing has been hot.

Mille Lacs still has open water, terrible year for ice fishing.

Sure could've use an ice scratcher boat. This would've been the year for that.

We just started getting a skim coat of ice this weekend, but it'll likely be gone by mid week again. A couple guys died not too far from here in the last couple weeks going out to fish on ice that wasn't thick enough.

I'll wait 'til there's at least 6" before I attempt it. I'm itching to get out there though.
