Hello!

Post by bitesize » Sun Apr 20, 2003 11:42 pm

Hello everyone!!!

I think i am the first one to post. cool! :D

I am pretty new to fishing, so hope I can find some good tips
on here, especially now that Spring is here, the fish are spawning,
the trout opener is very near.

Anyone have any tips on fishing the Bass spawn??
What lures to use because I have read on other forums
that the bedded bass don't like to strike at much.

Sorry if I posted in the wrong place for this question.

TIA!

Glad you could be a part of our new forum!

Regarding you question about fishing durring Spawning season for Bass...
It has got to be one of the most frustraiting things. When Bass are busy gettin it on they are hard to get to bite on anything! But they still got to eat!

I has at Lake Orville (known for awsome Bass tournys) last spawning season fishing for Bass. The locals there told me to try using a number of lures and techniques. I was there from sunrise to sunset in four locations and did not land a single fish! These bass were everywhere though...you could see them. Some of my plastics seemed as though they were bouncing off their heads! We tried everything short of explosives! With much shame in a darkened cove of the lake, we even tried cathing them with our net in the water...

Plastics like crawdads and lizzards were said to be the best for the situation, but i tried all to no avail. My suggestion is to let the poor fish 'get it on' in peace and watch a good baseball game instead!

Good Luck!
