The Berkley Braid Knot is a very strong knot. Extremely tough and reliable.

I use 30-lb braided dacron on my dual purpose catfish/pike rig, and sometimes use a improved clinch, sometimes an anchor bend.

I started tying that knot after receiving a book on fishing knots. It is one of the knots that retains the highest strengths after it is tied. All knots technically weaken the line. The Palomar still tests out at 90-some percent of the original line strength.
for bass fishing I haven't tied a lure or hook on with ANY other knot in WELL over a decade. Leader knots, i go with the crazy alberto

Palomar but uni will often do.

Re: Knots for Braided Line
I also favor the Trilene knot. Very simple to tie and doesn't require passing the lure through the loop. I've only had it fail when using very light braid like 4lb. and below. For lines that light, I like to add a small drop superglue too.
Re: Knots for Braided Line
All good knots...I prefer the "Trilene knot" for direct connection and Alberto for braid/connection leader.
Keep in mind that the Palomar is a good knot up to about 30lb test mono or therabouts (I know we are talking braid here), after that, this knot tends to cut into itself and gives up a lot of knot stregth vs other knots. Not a big deal for FW and Bass guys, but SW and BIG swimbait guys note that the Palomar is not the best knot with bigger test mono/co-poly, etc.

Unfortunately, I have had it slip when using 'coated' braid. I was told to make sure the coating is gone....really. Double palomar has been non slip for me but I find it a hassle to tie.mcha16 wrote:the polomar knot works very well for me when i use braided line.

Never had a slip using the fishing fool knot.
lures - fishing fool
straight shank hooks - snell
braid to leader - alberto knot.
