Palomar and Trilene.
Re: Favorite and most dependable knot
my most dependable knot is the uni knot, but the secret is to go through the hook eye twice, and use three wraps, it is a very small and super strong knot. the palomar isn't even close in terms of breaking strength, with the lines i've tested, it tested about 30% stronger than the palomar knot.
the hard part is to make sure there is no crosses, when tightening down the knot, pull the rounded part into a barrel, but don't cinch tight, when working it closer to the eye of the hook, manipulate the loop that is in the eye of the hook constantly until the knot is tight and there are no overlaps on the eye of the hook.
i forgot to add that is works great on mono and flouro i've tried up to 40 lb test, though who uses 40 in fresh water.

Re: Favorite and most dependable knot
Centauri knot for line to lure/hook etc. Double centauri for mono to mono.
Double uni for mono to braid.
Bottomline
Double uni for mono to braid.

Re: Favorite and most dependable knot
Trilene knot for larger lures like SBs...palomar knot for snaps, t-rigs, jigs and the like so that the head/knot is more streamlined for better weed resistance.

Re: Favorite and most dependable knot
double trilene for sure! Call it luck or whatever, but I can count on my one hand how many times I've had a knot failure while fishing using this knot, and I've been fishing for over 35 yrs, and caught a SHETLOAD of fish!
Second would be Palamor for certain things.
