Favorite and most dependable knot

Post by Alexriver » Fri Mar 16, 2007 2:35 pm

Just wondering what knot everyone prefers for mono line 2-8 lb to connect line to lure.

I use the following 3:

palomer knot
double clinch

I use the advance clinch 99% of the time and have no problems at all with that knot. Its easy to tie and never breaks for me even when using Floro.

Palomar for everything except Fluoro, with which I use a San Diego Jam Knot.

Palomar knot. I rarely, if ever, had a failure since using this knot. My buddy uses the trilene knot and has great success with it.

I usually go 4 times around that would be 4 times knot strength don't go around to much it will cause the knot to overlay and will break off easy, i myself like the Palomar knot especially when using flipping jigs and jigs when tossing spinner baits and spoons i use a clinch knot, I have a question regarding the Palomar knot theres a way to tie the Palomar knot so that the end clipped line is facing down "toward the lure" this stops soft weeds from catching your line, anyone here have a illustration to how its done?

San Diego Jam Knot or a Palomar Knot is all I use for tying hooks.

Clinch for single-hook baits...

Polomar for lures/plugs/wire baits...

Palomar knot for everything. One of the oldest and strongest knots, I have never lost a bait using this knot. I learned it after being fed up losing some high dollar lures on other knots and havent looked back since. Its easyer to tie to in dark situations, being a topwater junky you have to love the evening and even dark and this knot always comes through under the moon light. In cases where a looped knot would be more appropriate ill add a Berkley snap (like no split-ring).
