Howdy,
My name is Bobby and I fish for bass and crappie. I mainly fish a small reservoir in Southern Arizona called Patagonia Lake. This is a great website and the reviews are very informative. I've actually made a few purchases based on those reviews and have not been disappointed. Currently I’m waiting for delivery of Lure Eyes Cuda sunglasses-amber lens. If anyone else uses them please let me know how you like them.

Yes, Ultralite for crappie is a must IMHO. My favorite rig is an 8' flyrod with an ultralite Daiwa spinning reel spooled with 4lb Vanish flourocarbon.
Gitzit microlites are some of my favorite crappie lures-I tip them with powerbait to make them more attractive.

That's an interesting set up you use.
Powerbait, you mean the powerbait dough
they use for trout fishing???
Do you use it as scent to make the hold on longer or
just as a sight attractant?

I use the Berkley naturals powerbait. It's shaped and colored like earthworms-or trout worms. I pinch off about a 1/4" and attach it to the hook like a trailer on a bass jig or spinnerbait. The jig gets their attention, the bait is used to help entice them into taking the jig and holding on to it. IMO attractants don't work until the fish either gets close to the bait or gets a taste of it. Berkley scientists maintain that in order for attractants to be effective, they have to be water based or they (bass and crappie) won’t sense it at all. Of course this may differ when dealing with the ultimate swimming tongue, the catfish.
