Sturgeon Report (2/29)

Post by JIP » Mon Mar 01, 2004 12:39 pm

The team went out to test some new tackle in San Pablo Bay this
weekend. The weather was so so, water was rough, then nice,
then we had some 15knot winds coming back in, and of course
with high winds, wind waves was pounding us.

Anyways, the sturgeon bite is still on in the San Francisco Bay, San Pablo
Bay, Martinez, South Bay near the bridges and buoy A.
Some shakers and some HUGE ones were caught.
Use grass/ghost/mud shrimp and best during a tide change.

Pictures...? You'll see them in the upcoming reviews.

More to add from another report.

"McNears Beach: a 69-incher was landed at the pier today. "fishing is picking up," one ranger reports. five or six shakers were hooked yesterday, and a "monster" lost at the net..."

JIP,

Thanks for the report. Catching a diamond back is one thing I'd really enjoy. There are some hard core sturgeon fishermen out there.

JIP,

Looks like we're in for another nice weekend. Is the B.W. ready for the water? Do you have all your electronics ready? Have you decided on a name for her?

Reno,

Yes, another nice weekend! But probably not taking her out.
I really don't name my things, but decided on Endless Wave
for the Montauk. Almost all electronics are in except the Garmin,
which is probably the most important part! But still fishable. :D
We did great on Sturgeon fishing last weekend in San Pablo
Bay without the GPS/Fishfinder. And on the way back
it was blowing hard! Got a good pounding and felt how
the BW handled it. It survived!

Heard the sturgie bite is still HOT.
McNears beach pier was loaded with people elbow to elbow trying
to get their share at sturgeon fishing.

Also around the Southbay bridges.
