Tatula & 20+ pound fish

Post by QUAKEnSHAKE » Sat May 24, 2014 2:19 pm

I got to put my Tat to work today and work it did do. I unexpectedly snagged into this carp and what a fight. The drag worked great on the initial run and subsequent ones no hesitating stuttering of the like. The reel/rod/line just did its thing my biggest worry was how am I going to land this fish. I was up on a rocky ledge and whenever it got to about a foot from me another surge it had in it. I have somewhat of a bad back so bending over to gill it wasnt really to my liking. Another person near came to help and I guided/pulled the fish between two big rocks and he grabbed lifted it out and handed it to me. Here is all 36 inches of this beautiful fish

Monster! I read somewhere that the carp is the fastest-swimming fish in warm freshwater in this country. If the Tat's drag was up to this brute, that says something!

Also I was using 15# PPS8S and on next casts no discernible digging in made the same length cast as before no issue. Actually my mind wasnt even on the next few casts cause of thinking about the carp. So the line managemant of the reel works very well too.

Really great to hear that the Tatula holds up well. I've heard so many great things about the reel that I really want to pick up one for my casual fishing.

An Asian lady asked if she could have it, I gave it to her. About 30 minutes later she comes back and gives me a case of bottled water, jar of peanuts and 12 cup cakes. I shared the cupcakes with the guy that helped me land it.
