Castaic Lake 3/31/04

Post by ChuyDawg » Sat Apr 03, 2004 3:36 am

Went out on Wednesday to Castaic...
HIt the Lagoon from 8am to 1130am...
Caught 3 LM Bass...1 lber, 2.7lber, and a 3.6 ber...
All on a Storm Swimbait...
No wind...
Air temp was around 87...
Hit the main lake from 12pm to 430pm...
Hit the West shore near the west launch ramp...
Caught 4 LM Bass...2.3 lber, 2.1 lber, 2.4 lber, and a 2 lber...
All caught on the swimbait...
Wind picked up around 1230pm and got stronger as the afternoon went on...
I broke my rod tip on my Shimano Clarus rod...
Bummed out...
I thought it was a fish and set the hook hard and SNAP!!!
Broke off about 3" from the tip...
I am planning on taking it back to the dealer for a warranty trade in but I don't have the receipt...
Wish me luck...

Chuydawg, thanks for sharing your report. I'm sure you had a blast. Nice catches. If you can't get your fishing pole replace, just shorten it up by replace the tip top.

TO OTHER TT FORUM MEMBERS: Please contribute to the 'Fishing Reports' section Added info such as water clarity, water depth, and estimate number of bites. Thanks, it benefits all of us!

Water Calrity was clear in the morning but once the wind picked up it got muddy...
I thought I posted that, SORRY...
The water temp I can't get because I didn't go on a boat, fished of shore, also I don't have a fishfinder if I did go of the boat...
That is my next purchase...
So hang on guys...

Same here, chuy dawg.

But, I feel that fishing on a boat takes a bit of excitement away, since you can't have your normal 15 friends fishing trip during shore fishing, and barbecueing all night, in the super bright lamp that illuminates half of an island. But the 3:1 ratio of catching more fish on a boat balances it out.
