went for 3.5 hours today just to try out my new stuff, i caught nothing but got about 20 bucks worth of lures out of tree, 2 jitterbugs, 1 rattle trap, 1 mepps #1, 1 T1 spinnerbait, pop R, over 10 bobbers, Silver buddy, diving rebel, cricket popper. I actually spent more time pluckin the lures out of trees then fishing. Going down to my local pond really pays off, kids who live in the area take there dads stuff go fishing and get snagged all the time in the trees, so i go with a big long forked twig and retrieve them. I find it fun to get all this stuff for free.

SBS, that's a great report! Finding lures are as good as catching a fish! :D I do that too at the beginning of winter when the water level is low. Good catching on trees.

i dont mean to be bustin your bubble, but that looks like less then 6.5 pounds to me, might just be the angle of the shot, is that i guestimate, or did you weigh it, Imo that looks like more of a 4 pound fish just does not have the belly. I could be wrong, and probably am but just wondering.

Well the fish was 22" in length and 16" in girth...
By those numbers this scale http://www.bassresource.com/bassfishing ... lator.html says it is...
Also I have a Berkley scale and it showed 6.5 on it scale...
Here is a picture of the scale...
http://groups.msn.com/ChuysCrew/fishing ... PhotoID=12

But I could be wrong...
Next time I will take a photo of the fish on the scale like I did with that 1 lber...
It is tough to get the whole fish with the scale though...
Either way I think it's a nice fish...
If everyone believes it's a 4 lber than so be it...
I caught me a nice 4 lber...
All that matters to me is that I caught it, took the picture, and released it...
My goal is to catch that double digit bass not a 6 lber...
Wish you bent rods and tight lines, though...
Good luck to all...

I'd get that scale checked.

I test mine every so often with a 5 pound dumbell weight. It is dead on, but if I caught a 10+, I'd like to use something more dependable like that Boga Grip scale.

Okay also know that I am not a small guy...
I have a 42" chest...
I stand short at 5'8" tall but weigh 200lbs give or take couple of pounds through out the day...
This fish was long as crap and does not have that big of a belly but it was 6.5 lbs...
If you like go to El Dorado Park Lake and head to the main lake, in front of the Rental boats to the right there is some reeds there ...
I saw her their today...
You know it's her because of the off coloring on the rightside of the lip...
She was holding over the nest...
That bring me to a question...
Do some bass spawn in the same area every year???
I know that they don't spawn in the exact spot but I mean in the general area...

I would say no, as they get bigger they probably get better spots then when they were smaller.

I have the same problem when taking pictures with fish. I am 6'1" 2?? lbs. I make big fish look tiny. Also digital scales only work accurately for about a year, then they tend to weight high. I don't know why they do this, but I had a Rapala digital scale that was weighing all my walleyes as heavier than they were this fall. A bunch of 8.5 lbr's it was weighing at 10. Man was I disappointed when I figured that darn scale was misreading. I thoughly destroyed the wretched thing. I didn't get my 10 lbr this year. :( I caught a mess just a touch over 9lbs and 7 muskies on 8 lb test Pline (one was 50 inches :D ) this fall, but I'm always trying for 10 lbs or over walleyes.

Go to the General Forum and there's a tutorial on how to up there.
If all fails, email the pictures to me.

Preferred picture size is 400X300. As you can see, I linked your other
picture and it's huge. It pushes the window frame out.
