Is there any other species?

I've used 7 up and 3 down for the last year and have had no trouble with the knot.
Have landed bass up to 9.2 and multiple strippers on the same leader and knot with out retie.

Hmmm... Shin's knot looks like an Albright/double-uni hybrid. Interesting that it works. Have to try it. Looks like it would be super thin.
This is the way.

It's just half an alberto knot lol...one thing I do is pass the braid through the floro loop twice before cinching everything down.

In terms of strength, I've had zero issues...even fishing pretty light leaders for saltwater bottom fish. Most important to me is it stands up to repeated casting through guides, both bc and spinning...even surf casting. I reserve FG for leaders over 20lb since using Shin's version of the alberto, it's been bombproof.

I generally use 7 or 8 up and then 7 or 8 down, wet it good and cinch it down.
