Any mono. I tend to stick to p-line xxx
Re: What do you use for topwater line?
30LB powerpro + Sunline sniper 14lb leader.
Re: What do you use for topwater line?
Usually 12 lb. mono. I like Izorline.
Re: What do you use for topwater line?
Same here. some fat mono ( 2' leader) at the end of braid does the trick for me.Scattergun2570 wrote:braid to a leader like everything else.
Re: What do you use for topwater line?
Sunline Super Natural. Smaller diameter than Trilene XL. Although XL is still hard to beat for mono. 14#

That's interesting! I'm not a fan of FC for top water baits myselfcure-hb wrote:sunline sniper fc 16lb
I have a love/hate relationship with braid (Daiwa Samurai being my personal favorite) and top water. Walking baits, especially on very, very long casts, I love it when it gets way out there and I get bit early and have no problem with a hook set or control of the fish. The bad part is when a little loop gets around the hook, or some other entanglement all too frequent with braid and lots of trebles which messes up the entire cast. That doesn't happen with either Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo or standard Defier, my other go to lines for top water baits.

I had an older guy suggest using bee's wax to dress the first three feet of braid, if I'm fishing it with no mono leader. I haven't tried that yet, but I did notice that coating the first four feet of my braid with a black sharpie on my punching setup seems to make it less limp.bronzefly wrote:That's interesting! I use 40# braid straight-up if I need distance, like in the ponds I fish from shore, or 17-20# sufix siege if distance isn't a concern. The 40# braid tangles way less frequently than the 30# test.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I use either straight 17lb mono from Bass Pro, or 30-50lb braid with a mono leader, connected with an Albright knot.

Berkley Ironsilk. It floats, casts farther, and lasts longer than regular mono.
