Ned Rig

Post by JerryC » Thu Apr 23, 2015 3:57 am

Hey guys, caught wind of this rig eventhought I have been fishing with something similar the past few years. Anyone have any good jigheads they can suggest for this rig? Normally i would just put it on a half moon jig but ive been looking for something a little flatter that stands up better... let me know!

Gopher makes a good head, as does ZMann. Cabelas has a house brand head that is inexpensive and also works well.

I have been enjoying the NED rig lately. I have caught everything from bluegill, bass, carp, drum, and had a gar hit it. Lol , fun little rig. Best worms I found are the Zman finesse TRD worms. Last forever too.

The Trd worms Re meant for the Ned rig. I just use a senko and cut it in half.

The thing with the zman worm is buoyancy since the rig is meant to be moved as little as you can. There is a guy on a local forum making nice weedless heads for it.

Problem Ive come across with the senko is its much harder to super glue to the Head.. the TRD is ment for gluing and will kast a hell of a lot longer.. We fished it exclusively this spring up on St Clair for 8 days and I absolutely destroyed them.. Caught a bunch of 4-6lb smallies and had a run of 25 smallies in 45 mins in one spot... stupid Goose Turd bait...

How does a jighead w/a hunk of plastic on it become a "rig"? It's just a mushroom head jig, right?

You can use it with any jig but the mushroom head is best, any stand up jig i would assume would work well.

The VMC mushroom heads work well with The Turd.
After seeing Treys post on FB with him smashing them on LSC, I bought some turds, Zman heads and VMC heads. I can't believe how effective that stupid thing is. From smallies, pike, rock bass and perch in Michigan to largemouths, bluegill, green sunfish and channel cat here in Oklahoma, those Turds catch everything!
That TuRD is the first Elaztech bait I've ever had any luck with. Its ability to stand up on its head along with its durability make it the perfect bait for the technique.

The Zman heads have worked great for me, just be careful of your drag all of those style hooks bed pretty easily.
