Almost Cried Yesterday!

Post by mike304 » Tue May 22, 2012 2:03 pm

So I'm fishing with a buddy of mine yesterday, and we're working our way down the shoreline casting to the docks with jerkbaits. I had recently switched colors and was on a 9 fish in a row roll when I hooked a smallie of about a pound and a half. I lifted him into the boat and saw that he was hooked by the front hook of my bait, and the rear hook was around my line.as I reached to grab him he shook, flipped, and dropped into the drink with my brand new Megabass Vision 110 still in his mouth.

i don't know if the hook cut my line or what, but I really thought I was gonna cry like a little girl. It wasn't even a big fish!!! My buddy just looked at me and said " i ain't even gonna bust your chops about it cause that sucks".

I knew when I bought them it would happen sooner or later, but it still hurt!!!

That's why you should have backups of good colors and backups of backups of your favorite colors. ;)

With all of these super high end lures around, I have just developed a new attitude. It's like going out to dinner and spending $25. I realize that fishing these baits are just going to cost money and stop expecting that they are going to last any period of time. What gets me is that sometimes I think the old husky jerk catches them just as well ast the ito.

How often do you retie? If I were to guarantee bait loss would be less if you retied after every fish ... Would you?
