Re: Best rod size
I prefer 7' and longer for most applications. If im throwing a jerkbait i prefer a shorter rod also prefer a shorter rod when im hitting docks

Re: Best rod size
Shoot if I had to only choose one rod I would go for a 6'6" -6'8" med heavy with a fast tip you can darn near fish every lure/technique with this type rod. With the exception of crankbaits you really want the tip and action to let the crank to do its thing .... I think the best part about med heavy/fast is if you never really feel overpowered and if you do you know you got a mean one on the way up.
Re: Best rod size
i love my 7"2,
but id have to say the best all around is 7ft fast action med/hvy

Agree with 6'6" or 7" M /MH
Re: Best rod size
7' m/mh is the best all around. You get good distance without it being cumbersome.
6'6" is to short to get good distance.
7'11" is way to long (I tried to make this work as an all round because I wanted to get a lot of casting distance - not a good idea )

Re: Best rod size
for an all-round stick i like 7'MHF with a handle around 12". i feel like it gives me the best balance between casting distance and accurracy. i can still pitch with a 7' rod and assuming that the handle isn't too long i can walk a sammy pretty well. MH because whatever i'm throwing is going into the cover 90% of the time. I have a 6'9" that feels nice as well, but i like 7" better for most situations.

Re: Best rod size
Depending on the situation but my go to setup would be a 7'2 med-hvy 10-17 line 1/4 -3/4 oz fast action
