Most productive soft plastic lures for summer.

Post by dbrown525 » Wed May 05, 2004 11:55 am

Got a question.

of all the soft plastic lures on the market today which style (worm, lizard, creature, senco, etc.) is the most productive when the weather gets good and hot? I've recently had my best luck with some lizards from Mad Man but I'm really not sure if they will consistantly preform under varrying circumstances.

Any thoughts?

By the way, if you haven't tried the Mad Man, Mad Lizard......You should!

Thanks for the information guys. I've got to try that V tail idea this weekend! Will that work with any other plastics besides the V-tail?

It is the best for this method. The 'cut' in the tail grabs the surface water and the water makes it 'slap' rapidly as you reel. There are a couple of other baits that I know of that might(?) work but why not use the 'original' that I know works?

They are available http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog. ... rchResults here and are inexpensive. You can order the weights http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog. ... rchResults there too.

For me Roboworm Straight tail worms have got the job done for soft plastics...
Aaron's Magic and Bluegill colors are the top two...

[font=Trebuchet MS]Lightning Rod,

Thanks for sharing your techniques and rigging instructions for the Zoom Vibra-tail Speed Worm. I believe Mike Iaconelli used the same technique to will the CITGO classic.

You talking about those dog day afternoons where the fish seemed to have packed up an moved to Vermont?The days where you run into other folks an asked if anything has been hit'n?and they reply,nope,nada,ziltch.Luv my worn'n but heres one that works for me,I use those lil' Lunker City"Hellgies"(brown or smoke)rigged carolina style with a 1\4 oz. or less weight about 2' up the line,split shot will work also.G\L

True Reno and I believe he used this Mann's Worm:

They both will work but the Zoom Worm has the 'cut' which I believe give's it better 'tail' action :oops: . Btw, I have fished a Gambler Flappin' Shad in a similar manner but you have to cut its tail if you want the Vibra-tail motion. The F/S's tail looks similar to the Mann's.

Don't really work it different db525,but I do take the size of the bait into account,being the Hellgie is so small I make short little hops with it.I would like to think I'm only moving it 3-4 inches a hop but its tough to tell in some conditions.Anyway db give these baits a try on those days hopefully they'll work out for you too. :)
