Re: Floro on SV spools v.s. conventional

What is the point to fill the spool completely full on bait casting tackle? I do it on spinning reels obviously, but all my bc reels have 66 or 75 yards line on on them, and they are usually 2/3 filled of full capacity. Haven’t noticed any distance been sacrificed that way. One way to add braking i...

Re: Daiwa J-Braid x4 ?

IT's a buzzsaw when new....but gets soft and ropey when worn in...and that abrasive bonus goes away.

i've seen fx1 braid cheap...that's the 4 strand abrasive stuff right? uses dyneema vs the post patent expiration pe used for the budget braids fwiw

Re: What do you daiwa guys use to bomb lures?

Best bet if you haven't already... Clean the bearings and use a thinner oil or tungsten disulfide. Go to a lighter braid. 10lb instead of 30 or 40 and use a pr or fg knot to a leader which should get you in the 20 lb break rating and in some cases higher. Also try learning different casting techniq...

Re: 300 size reel with these specs

Problem with the clicker is they run it off a gear on the spool I personally think they should scallop the edge of the spool flang or dimple it and ad a spring detent allowing for an adjustable click and retaining the external mag braking. The tranx has a crazy rapid ramp up in drag that works just ...

Re: What do you daiwa guys use to bomb lures?

I did lots of testing last year....and one thing i learned.....don't expect any more than 10% by switching reels or spools or whatever. From antares reels to steez to mgxtreme2's to dc reels and concept z's and quantums, and others.... throwing jigs, spinnerbaits, jerk baits, frogs, lead, cating plu...

Re: What do you daiwa guys use to bomb lures?

Helios Air, Concept A, Primmus. My 50th Anniversary Zillion does a pretty good job on the right rod. 3/4 oz. spinnerbait, 12# Elite and 7'6" HF Zillion gets some pretty good distances. Gen 1 STX has made what are probably my longest casts to date, but that was throwing a 3/4 oz. spoon in tidal wate...

Re: New fireline fused 8 carrier

as a running update. Fished the 14lb quite a bit this spring so far for stripers. And this spring has been epic. If you know where to be and put your time in....usually meaning calling it quits at 2 to 4 am... conditions have been pretty snotty as well...wading out 100 + yards on flats in heavy wind...

Re: Alphabrake - New Kind of Braking?

I believe ICast & Fred Hall are the 2 biggest shows (though Fred hall event was last weekend). ICast is definitely one you'd want to go to. You mentioned these cast down to around 10grams, but they're more focused on Pike- what would you say the upper weight limit on baits might be? not sure it wou...

Re: Sustain vs Certate JDM (or other similar priced reels JDM)

The sustain is such an odd reel....even though the price came own....and it gained more than it has in the past....it's still weird... How the Sustain Started under the Stella back in the day to where it sits now is the same old story as the Chronarch in the baitcaster line... 300$ for an aluminum ...

Re: Sustain vs Certate JDM (or other similar priced reels JDM)

Seeing as a spinning reel will be in the future for me, I figured I had better start narrowing down the field of options... I have in the past purchased the Stradic, as it fits into that $200 price point and offers decent components and refinement...however my Stradic FK left me wanting a little mo...

Re: Daiwa Tatula Lt

Anyone using the new Lt for light weight gear? Time for a new trout reel and thinking about 1000. While not used it for trout, I do have a TALT1000D-XH that I picked up new a couple weeks ago. I've used it a couple times in the last week or so, and I have to say, I'm not that impressed with it. Gra...
