Re: Help me understand the value of 8.0 or 8.1 gears

Mostly finesse or non-resistant type baits. I find that 7:1 is ok....Higher gear ratios result in less torque...

Re: CVZ

How about high speed gearing for the cvz 203 models..........The question been asked before and got no responses.

Also, why is the JDM cvz 103 so much lighter in weight than its counterpart the td luna 103.

Re: Suggestions for buying my first JDM reel

I thought tacklewarehouse provides you a demo reel or tryout period reel for use and eventual purchase. I try the demo reel program. A lot depends on how you fish. Most JDM reels are designed for specific apps. IMO, its always best to start with a mid range purchase. (td luna 103, curado e, lexa 100...

Re: CVZ

Other options for that reel would be the new SV spool, 6:8 gearing and adjustable side plat which is standard on the td 103 luna. The shallow spool might allow you to remove the line guide and worm gear permanently. (maybe more research) Remember for bass you don't need alot of line. (just enough to...

Re: Revo MGXtreme

I like to use lightweight reels to fish small plastic baits in open water with very little cover...... Currently, i'm using a tdz air metal spooled with 16lb machinegun cast line and a IMX s904 flippen stick to fish plastic worms in deep water (light cover). Its much easier to fish all day with the ...

Re: Exsence DC owners. What have you used yours for?

It was designed for Sea Bass (I guess...) I waiting to hear more reviews on the reel. The gear ratio of 8:1 doesn't provide torque or cranking power. Is there a 6:3 gear ratio available?

Re: Zillion Type R

I agree with "all or the above" except that the abu garcia stx is 2 ounces less and most flippen sticks weigh 5 ounces or better.
Therefore the stx is the better choice in IMO.... I have a zillion which is used on a imx 844 for plastic applications.

What length or size rod do you use with your Ryoga Bay Jigging. How does that reel cast plugs?
